For a property sale, retrieve the original LOMA case and verify its legal description, determination, status, and relationship to the current FIRM. Ownership transfer alone neither cancels nor extends the letter.

A LOMR-F package for property elevated by fill needs the applicable MT-1 materials plus location, fill, map, and elevation documentation. A finished grade claim without support does not establish eligibility.

Assemble the deed, recorded plat, FIRM extract, property description, and required elevation evidence before starting a LOMA request. FEMA decides sufficiency after reviewing the submitted case.

Confirm the Elevation Certificate’s edition and expiration details against FEMA’s current underwriting forms page. An older form may need review, but its date alone does not invalidate prior work.

Choose an Elevation Certificate building diagram from the structure’s actual enclosure, foundation, floor, and grade configuration. Similar appearance from one view is insufficient for classification.

Before comparing certificate elevations with the applicable FIRM/FIS BFE, confirm the building, zone, datum, and lowest-floor field. The arithmetic alone does not decide compliance or coverage.

The FEMA form instructions identify who may certify particular Elevation Certificate sections under applicable rules. Confirm the signer’s role and local authority instead of assuming any preparer can sign.
